PDX - SDC Round 3
Share
Drift PDX is always one of our favorite trips and combining that with an SDC round makes for a fantastic weekend!

Kayla (One of the fantastic judges) brought in a plate full of these banana bread mini muffins which PROMPTLY disappeared.... they were delicious!
The event started out pretty well, Both Josh and I got some great practice in and only had to make minimal changes to the cars to sort them out. Right up until practice was almost over..... Then both of them noticed some issues with their cars and had to fix them quickly to get a few more laps in before qualifying.

Qualifying went fairly smoothly with I getting 4th and Josh coming in 14th.

Josh set up to take on Vincent Nguyen first round but unfortunately made some mistakes on his lead run that ended up giving the win to Vincent (live stream). Thankfully our friend Kari from BC was next up against Vincent and kept Canada in the fight!

I was lucky enough to have a bye run for the first round but was lined up against Shibata Driver Chris Clasen for the top 16 (live stream)! Having driven with Chris a lot over the past few years this was set to be a great battle... UNTIL I decided to make some silly mistakes in both the lead and chase and handed the win to Chris. Some bad lines in the chase and a wall tap at the finish line on his lead made it easy for the judges. Chris was on fire this weekend, some great fun regardless of the silly mistakes from me!
After that it was onto some fun battles, then to the bar for some burgers and beers with the PDX team and onto our hotel.
Sunday (HAPPY MOTHERS DAY)

After an interesting night at our hotel (won't be going back to that one), Josh and I hit up one of our favorite breakfast places (Cascade Grill)

We had a great opportunity sunday to have the track mostly to ourselves! DJ Moore (Round 3 Top Qualifier and 1st place finisher) helped both of us dial in our cars more as we did some laps and watched the SDC round from Super G! (

We got detoured off the highway on the way home for some construction and spotted this gold mine on the side of the read! What a cool truck!
All in all it was a great weekend and we can't wait to go back next Month!
